Why we should oppose highway:

• The proposed north-south connector would bring unwanted development and traffic to Kendall County and western Kane County
• The highway violates the county's 2020 Land Management Plan which seeks to keep 50 percent of the county as farmland and similar land use planning in Kendall County. The beltway is not included in the transportation plans for either county.
• The connector would thwart Kane County's plans to buy and preserve farmland, protecting it from development.
• It would fundamentally change the way of life of people living in Kendall County and western Kane County.
• Existing highways like Illinois 47 should be expanded and improved before new highways are considered.

What we can do:

• Remember - the most effective communication is a personally written letter. It's given more weight than e-mail or telephone calls.
• Send your written comments to the Illinois Department of Transportation (deadline February 10, 2002.)
