IDOT's Proposed I-88 to I-90 Route (1998)

In 1998 the Illinois Department of Transportation proposed a route connecting Interstates 88 and 90, but has taken not further action on the proposal. The highway would connect I-88 east of Kaneville at the same point that the proposed southern beltway (I-80 to I-88). The north route would cross Illinois 38 at Freeland Road and proceed northward between Virgil and Lily Lake, then angling west to bypass Hampshire and connection with I-90 west of the current US 20 interchange.
