Kendall County Land Resource Management Plan
View Kendall County Land Management Plan
The Kendall County plan, updated in 2001, provides as one of its goals: A rural environment that provides
for continuation of viable agricultural activities and a rural character and life style.
To attain this goal, the plan includes these objectives:
- Maintain the most productive agricultural lands for agricultural purposes, allowing only less productive land
to be used for urbanization.
- Protect productive farm operations from premature encroachment of urban uses by careful land use regulation
and buffering requirements.
Related county-wide planning policies include:
- Ensure that the demand for residential development may be accomodated within urbanized communities, continuous
growth areas, rural settlements, and transportation corridors to eliminate pressure for agricultural land conversion
to residential use.
- Encourage commercial enterprise development within existing central business districts. Discourage unplanned
commercial activity outside existing municipalities.
- Site new highway facilities to minimize impact on existing landuses and encourage compact contiguous growth
